Melancholy

A scream escaping a lonely soul,
Too tired to cry over you.
Echoes from some passing love,
That only left me blue.
Before there was a reason,
Maybe small, but it was a dream.
With every passing season,
Came the waves of misery.

Hope sometimes fades away,
You know that bliss is seldom true
Grief is the only emotion,
No one can see through.
Loneliness can’t be feigned,
Unlike a happy smile
Every time feels hopeless,
You regret every mile.

A chalice full of sorrow,
As the lake breaks the bounds.
The banks are never tall enough,
To stop a raging sound.
The storm’s moving in,
There’s foreboding in the air.
I reach for you when I’ve fallen,
And crash without you there...
